Like every year, 2020 also gave us so many crazy, some interesting, some logical and some completely and totally sane and out of this world kind of trends on social media platforms. By being at home for most of the time during this year, people had a lot of time to showcase their creativity, talents and make the best use of it on the social media.

For sure the ongoing pandemic has been the dominating force for the conversation on social media for most of the year, but…. there has been a lot of things more than that. On one hand we saw trends with hashtags like  #Covid19, #CovidVaccine and on the other, we also saw some crazy stuffs with hashtag #BabaKaDhaba and #JCBKiKhudai.

Here we have listed the topics, videos and trends that became viral this year and have entertained us.

1. Internet discovers baby Govinda

Manoj Muntashir is the Popular Bollywood lyricist. He shared a video of a boy who was seen dancing on streets on a super-hit Govinda number. The video became viral instantly and there were comparisons done with none other than the king of dance in our industry – Govinda

2. The friendship ‘goals’
This one is an emotional story that was showcased of some friends saying the final good bye to their buddy who also a part of their football team. It is shown that this is how they helped him score that final goal.

3. The expert kid on BBC
We all have been working from home throughout this year or rather we were managing both office and home from staying back at home itself. That’s exactly what happened when this expert was interrupted  by her daughter, Scarlett during a TV broadcast on BBC.

4. The singing dog 
The lockdown made many of them sit at home and some of us tried and made the best out of the time by getting our creative side work. Some also tried making creative contents with their pets. There was a cute video of a dog and its owner who was found doing a musical jugalbandi.

5. Binod the Bizarre
No viral list for the year 2020 can get complete without the mention of this legend Binod and the way people got crazy for this name by making memes and funny videos. Don’t worry we are not going to irritate you with the details, ofc you all know but just the mention is enough.

6. 2020- The year Namaste became global
This year also saw people trying and adjusting to the new normal of social distancing in this tough time of Covid pandemic. World leaders and the government officials and the celebrities too were seen following ‘do gaj ki doori’ that is 2 meter distance and embracing the Namaste instead of custom handshakes. Pictures of world leaders doing the same has got so popular among Indians.

7. Dojokovic’s disqualifiction and the meme factory
2020 has been an unusual year with a lot of bad happenings in every sense and this story makes us understand this phenomenon perfectly. Novak Djokovic got eliminated from the US Open 2020. It was not after losing to an opponent but it happened by the virtue of being disqualified because he accidentally hit a ball at a line judge.

8. Indonesian version of ‘Bole Chudiyan’
We saw a new version of the perfect Indian family dance track on the super song – ‘Bole Chudiyan’. This version came from Indonesia and it became a super hit among Indians.

9. The dancing Doctor impressed Hrithik too
This year we also got to see a dancing doctor who through his moves has impressed Hrithik Roshan. Dr. Arup, he’s a  surgeon at Silchar Medical College in Assam. He dances in front of his patients just to make them happy. And the Internet and the people rightly said to his videos – that HOW COOL IS THAT!.

The Bollywood star and dancer  Hrithik too praised this doctor for his extraordinary footwork. He said to tell Dr Arup that he is going to learn his steps and dance as good as him someday when he comes to Assam.

11. 4-year-old’s rendition of Maa Tujhe Salaam
This 4-year-old girl from Mizoram won everyone’s heart by her beautiful performance and interpretation of ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’. Prime Minister Modi also tweeted saying on her video saying and commenting ‘adorable and admirable!’ He also wrote that he is proud of Esther Hnamte for this rendition.

12. Rasode me kaun tha and its versions
Last but not the least and the most famous and trendy of all – ‘Rasode me kaun tha’. Who does not know about this on social media. And who made it so popular. A man with his skills to turn a simple dialogue and a video part of a serial into a viral video. After he made, there were many more edits for that song.
