Mount Everest got 3 feet higher : It’s new height is 8,848.86 meters

Mount Everest is higher than previously recorded and thought , as it was said Nepal and China a day back. Settling a long- conflict which was running about the height of the world’s tallest peak that covers across their shared border.

Kathmandu and Beijing gave an approximate height of Mount Everest but that differed over its exact height. After an expedition of surveyors who climbed the mountain, they have agreed that the official and the recent height of Mount Everest is 8,848.86 metres that is 29,031.69 feet. That turns out to be a little more than the previous calculations.

Nepali Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said that Everest is known to be an eternal symbol of friendship and bonding between Nepal and China. He announced this findings of their recent surveys on a video call with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

Nepal had never before measured tried to measure the height of Mount Everest by its own. When it was measured it turned out to be 8,848 metres (29,028 feet) an approx.  and that was made by the Survey of India in 1954 that even includes snow.

Mountaineers said that an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude was hit in 2015 which killed nearly 9,000 people in Nepal and that may have altered the height of Everest.

Nepal is a place which has seven of the world’s 14 highest peaks, sent its first team of surveyors in May 2019 to measure Everest. Chinese surveyors climbed the peak in spring this year, when the mountain was closed by both countries for other climbers due to the recent condition of coronavirus pandemic.

Damodar Dhakal who is the spokesman of the Nepal’s Department of Survey, said that the Nepali surveyors had used the Global Navigation Satellite System. They used it to get the precise and perfect height of this  giant peak – Mount Everest.

Garrett Madison who is the U.S.-based Madison Mountaineering company, he said that he was excited about climbing the new heights on Mount Everest next year.

He said that Surely some new and amazing records for climbing the ‘highest Everest’ will happen in the upcoming year 2021. He is a 42-year-old man and has submitted Mount Everest 10 times. He said that hopefully I get a new Everest summit number 11 in 2021!

Many Western climbers use the slightly greater height that is 8,850 metres (29,035 feet) which was determined in the year 1999. It was measured by the National Geographic Society and Boston’s Museum of Science. That was measured in a survey that used satellite-based technology to measure the peak.

A earthquake occurred in the year 2015 at the peak during peak climbing season lead to many massive avalanches and that killed 18 people at the base, who were halting the season’s mountaineering activities.

The next following year, climbers who scaled the mountain said about an Everest landmark, Hillary Step – which is a 13 metre (40 feet) near-vertical rock formation below the summit and that had collapsed from the impact of Nepal’s worst earthquake ever recorded.

Mount Everest has been climbed by around 10,184 times by 5,789 different people since it was first climbed by New Zealander – Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay in the year 1953, according to the Himalayan Database, which maintains records on climbs.
