Mission 2022: Akhilesh criss-crosses state, covers 40 districts. Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav is visiting the country in an unprecedented way considering the 2022 UP general election, visiting nearly 40 constituencies and all state districts, including Bundelkhand.
Not only did he leave all the other main opposition party leaders in this regard but he seems to be depriving himself of spending time on the road.
Yadav’s trip now involves staying overnight in the districts. The series began with a three-day visit to his Lok Sabha district Azamgarh east of Uttar Pradesh in December.
During the visit, he spoke to training camps for officials, kisan mahapanchayats, community meetings and press conferences. He also visited temples, in addition to places of worship for Muslims and Buddhists.
In all regions, Akhilesh posted pictures of himself among the crowd on his social media accounts. Most of them were road trips but he was using a plane for a few trips, including one to Chitrakoot.
In Etawah, he spoke to an organization that was on top of the tractor. He also stood on the roof of his rope (a luxury campaign bus) at his Aligarh kisan mahapanchayat. In Rampur, he not only flagged the Samajwadi Cyat Yatra 350 kilometers to Lucknow, but also robbed the first 10 km of the track and crew. He even took a UP road bus on the way to Etawah.
“The way the crowds are gathering shows how free the people are to vote for the BJP and bring back the Samajwadi party,” said SP government spokesman and former minister Rajendra Chaudhary.
The visitors also dismissed criticism that he had previously not hit the streets the way his father and founder Mulayam Singh Yadav did when he led the party.
To keep his attacks focused on the Baratiya Janata Party (BJP) only, Akhilesh Yadav has never mentioned any other opposition political party, be it Congress or the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Among his political rivals, BSP chief Mayawati has not visited the province at all, while Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has visited several provinces such as Saharanpur and Matrafra. He is likely to travel to the four eastern states of the UP to speak to the kisapan mahapanchayats in Varanasi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur this month.
“It is good that Akhilesh Yadav is making this busy journey and involved in taking BJP very seriously before the election. There is no other way, if he and his team have to fight BJP and wish to regain power. So far, his only team and he is in a position to hold the BJP well. Such hard work and the working relationships, if they do, can really help in the war, ”said Professor SK Dwivedi, a political analyst and former head of the political science department, Lucknow University.
Dwivedi added: “Prior to this, his solitary tour of Kranti Rath in 2011 just before the 2012 UP general election is still remembered by the public.”
Mulayam thanked Akhilesh Yadav and his Kranti Rath campaign for making the SP win the majority for the first time in its election history. That success saw Akhilesh Yadav become Uttar Pradesh’s prime minister for the first time in 2012.
