Tourism is truly one the worst hit areas during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many tourist spots are closed till now since they have been marked as red zones which have the maximum number of cases. After the onset of Article 370 in last August, Kashmir itself was getting lesser number of tourists.
But as of late the good news is that with the onset of snowfall this winter people are again visiting one of India’s best tourist destinations. The snowfall is truly a wonderful thing to see. The Dal Lake looks awesomely beautiful during these times. One can enjoy the green apples, red apples. The wine made from these apples is simply great.
Gulmarg has already been covered with fresh snow now. Snowfall is expected to happen in the upper and lower regions of Kashmir afterwards. The fifteenth day of November saw more than 500 Tourists at the Srinagar Airport.
This is the highest number of arrivals in a single day since the last seven or eight months. Inspire of the number being less, this is a ray of hope for the industry which had almost gone down the cliff since the onset of the strict lockdowns and the pandemic.
The maximum capacity of the visitors is from the metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru etc. The local tour operators are seeing this as a very positive outcome. The number of visitors is likely to go on the upper side as the meteorological department has predicted that there would be more snowfall in the months to follow.
Snow Carnivals and other promotional events in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Srinagar are likely to boost up the tourism in those areas.
Though the current arrival of tourists has been attributed to the drying up of the chances of International travel anytime soon, the tour companies believe that constant snowfall will enable the industry to rise again, slowly. The meteorological department’s judgment on the snowfall is the silver lining for Kashmir.
Apart from the snowfall too, Kashmir itself is a treat to watch for Tourists. With its saffron gardens being red at the time of blossom and many other beautiful places including the Dal Lake which is one of the main attractions of Srinagar. The Mughal Gardens also is a wonderful tourist spot in Srinagar.
The Gondola rides in Gulmarg give the visitors a panoramic view of the valley. The Lola VALLEY IN Kupwara is also a wonderful place to visit. Katha which is known as the ‘city of Sufis ‘too is a tourist’s delight with the Jasrota Fort being a must visit for history lovers.
With the snowfall this winter, Kashmir is looking to regain its lost honor once again. If the International Travel scenario remains the same, then this beautiful tourist spot can surely expect a considerable rise in the tourism sector which will improve its financial status too.
