The overwhelming response that the trailer got has told us one thing that a film like ‘Coolie No. 1’ is for sure made to be enjoyed with family and friends and that is what viewers are hoping to cash on.
It is comedy doyen David Dhawan’s 45th film. This also marks the huge successful journey of 25 years for the production house Pooja Entertainment that began its journey in 1995 with, yes, ‘Coolie No. 1’ starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.
The question now is that whether the makers will somehow be able to manage a simultaneous release of the film in theatres and on Amazon Prime. And if that will in fact trigger and help become the new normal in the post-pandemic entertainment industry.
Also right now the OTT platforms are buzzing with new content while theatres are parched for big films, ‘Coolie No. 1’ could help people rewind and recall and have a semblance of their good, old days. With multiplexes and OTT platforms planning to re-open and give a kick-start, possibly by December 25, they will both yield a little to share the spoils. Coolie No. 1 could just be an upcoming gift, surprise and entertainment for everyone in India during this Christmas.
