The Calcutta Youth International Film Festival is making news today. This is an annual festival that started in Kolkata in 1995. Script Production House is behind the star-studded event. The celebrations started in Dec 26, on the rooftop of Top Cat CCU Rooftop café. You will be amazed to know, that all the glitterati of Kolkata, amongst the Tollywood stars were present on the event. There were a host of young stars like Ritabrata Mukherjee, Aishwarya Sen, Shweta, Satyam Bhattacharya and a host of young actors from Tollygunge Film Para were present.
Great Job By The Organizers
The organizers of the event, Script Productions has been working in this creative field for the last 7 years. Not just culture, but they have managed to get a lot of love for the event. Script Productions believes in celebrating entertainment for the youth, of the youth and by the youth. They have taken it up as their duty to celebrate and recognize the brilliance of the youth. They are building a community, through which they aim to reinstate the arts and cultural glory of Bengal, in front of the world.
The festival is a huge initiative by a group of high school and college going students. They seem to have a common love interest for art, culture and motion cinema. It will include talk shows, workshops and the finer things in life.
What The Stars Said In 2020
Young star, Ritabrata Mukherjee talked about his new film at the festival. According to him, the current face of cinema in Bengal is changing a lot. It is due to the OTT platforms that things have taken a turn for the better. Director Abhinandan Dutt and other crew members were also present at the event.
The best three films that screened are Satyadar Coaching and The Paperboy amongst others. Rajiv Mehra, head of Adda Times OTT platform, said, “Puja background in Bengali film is not new. This trend started a long time back, in Bengali movies.” The new web movie ‘After the Festival’ also appeared as a tribute in the end. There were lots of prizes and a gala ceremony, after the event. Filmmakers, crew members and directors were also present at the event.
This year, Ritabrata Mukherjee won the title of ‘Youth Icon of the year.’ There were screening of a few good filmmakers, apart from workshops, and there was Ray 100 that paid a tribute to the enigma, who started it all. Various competitions were also arranged in genres like story writing, film quiz and short film making. There were so many things to be proud of. The festival is unique not only for cine lovers, but also for emerging actors, directors and producers. Documentaries also formed part of the celebrations.
