Boucher looks at positives from IPL-bound players missing Pakistan series. South African head coach Mark Boucher wanted to focus on the good of his missing IPL players in the Pakistani series, saying it would help prepare them for the T20 World Cup in India and allow him to test his team’s bench.

Five top South African players including Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, David Miller and Anrich Nortje will be available in the first two ODIs against Pakistan before flying to India to begin their pre-season detention ahead of the IPL on April 9.

Boucher said in a news conference that there are pros and cons of these players who have been lost in the series but we have been able to do this for some time because BCCI and CSA have a long-term agreement to release IPL players and the planning has not been successful due to Covid-19.

The former South African wicket-bowler said the good news was that the players would play in the IPL in India where the World T20 is scheduled for later this year.

Boucher said that he think their appearance in the IPL in the World T20 will help us.

Playing well with the powerful opponents they may face in the World T20 will get the first experience of the various areas, the opposition team we are waiting to meet at this World Cup.

He said that make sure they don’t go on holiday and it also gives us a chance to watch out for other guys in this fight.

Boucher also endorsed the nomination of top player Aiden Markram in the ODI team and hopes he can “change his mind and bring his red ball form to white cricket in South Africa.”

Boucher also said that sometimes thinking about white cricket is that if your character is a humble character like Aiden, sometimes you feel when he doesn’t score in the 140 strike you feel like he’s holding the team in some way.

He said that he thinks that to be honest when a guy like Aiden and some guys in our team when they go out hitting a hundred there aren’t many players who can beat them.

He also said that his mental adjustment to me is how you can make Aiden get into the attitude he gets when he plays at the franchise level. It’s something we talked to him about. Maybe he hit one or two in understanding how to mark white cricket.

He added saying that Pakistan would be interested in the fact that they have found a friendly atmosphere in South Africa but more importantly put the ball in the right places.
