The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. was established in 2013 following the conviction of 17-year-old African-American high school student Trayvon Martin. George Zimmerman, a Spanish American, shot and killed the boy during the altercation, but the court found him not guilty of defamation, which angered Martin since he was unarmed.

Last year, the death of George Floyd sparked outrage around the world after video footage showed a white police officer pressing his knee around the victim’s neck. The Black Lives Matter was a complaint that led political leaders, business leaders, and other members of the public to criticize police brutality and call for an end to systemic discrimination. U.S. President Joe Biden, then elected Democratic Alliance president, had said Floyd deserved better, and called for a thorough investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Apple Inc CEO Tim Cook wrote an open letter in which he promised to “do more” to fight racism and injustice and told the Black community that “their lives are important”. The chief executive said the death of George Floyd was shocking and catastrophic for evidence that we should move forward far beyond the “normal” future, adding that a new future should be built in line with the higher goals of equality and justice.

The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation also supported the indictment of former president Donald Trump following the Capitol riots, and called on the US Senate to convict him. Patrisse Cullors, founder and executive director of the foundation, said Republicans in Congress “have tolerated, and empowered, his violent and divisive discourse for a very long time”. Cullors also said in a statement that they urge the next administration to continue to hold Trump and his former members accountable, and to take drastic measures to end the white supremacy in the United States.

Notably, the foundation on Friday won Sweden’s Olof Palme’s 2020 human rights award for promoting “peaceful civil disobedience by combating police brutality and racial violence” around the world. The proponents of her case also have been working so that they can make the actual transcript of this statement available online. The Black Lives Matter has made significant progress in the world by summer. He also added that approximately 20 million people took part in the Black Lives Matter protests in the US alone.

It is the fact that all the powerful voices are raised by the African Americans are being heard loudly and also internationally, this shows that it is about the threat to the human dignity and for the basic human rights: A HEALTHY LIFE IS IMPORTANT!.

The foundation exists in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. According to the Black Lives Matter website, the organisation’s mission is to “eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in the violence perpetrated against Black communities by the state and the state.”
