India’s economy is experiencing a “V-recovery” and the world is looking the same in surprise, Union Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah said on January 21.
Mr Shah, a senior Cabinet member, also said the COVID-19 vaccine campaign was progressing well and if everyone was vaccinated, “we will overcome this epidemic”.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a four-lane bridge crossing at Shilaj in Ahmedabad by Gujarat Deputy Prime Minister Nitin Patel.
Mr. Shah said that the global economy is affected by the corona virus. However, the world is amazed and watching the V-shaped recovery of the Indian economy.
GDP gained 23.9% in the June 2020 quarter due to closure, and the contract cut to 7.5% in the September quarter compared to the same period last year, when the opening process began.
The demand situation showed further improvement in the December quarter where festivals were seen, with many high frequency indicators showing the same.
The Union government now expects GDP to close FY21 with an agreement of 7.7%.
Mr Shah also said that the infrastructure development under the Narendra Modi regime six years ago surpassed that of the 20 years prior to the NDA government.
He said that the work done in the infrastructure sector six years ago is similar to the work done in the previous 20 years of government.
He listed various infrastructure projects such as Metro lines, ammunition train and other projects undertaken by the Center.
He also said that the government of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working hard in order to improve the infrastructure in the country, whether in rural or urban areas.
The Modi government has provided electricity to all districts in the country, road connections, and provided a single bank account for all families.
Mr. Amit Shah also said that ten crore families, or 30 crore people, in India were homeless, and with the construction of low-income group housing going on, and also that they are confident that all families will have a home by 2022.
He said that one of the biggest projects that they have taken is to provide piped water to all households by the year 2022.
Mr Shah said the government had also taken on the task of removing the lakh railway line from national highways and the Government by building bridges over or under bridges.
About 5,000 road crossings have been completed and are currently being completed in another 8,000 places, he said.
He has also said that the Shilaj Bridge which was opened on Thursday is one of the bridges removed from the railway crossings.
