A day later the Supreme Court allowed the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to conduct offline CA tests from July 5, a three-bench bench of judges AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Aniruddha Bose will hear the application ‘ opting out of students who will not be able to appear for examination due to COVID-19. The court asked the center to consider exit options for those who will be co-opting for COVID. Attorney General Ramji Srinivasan, who appeared at ICAI said the high court proposal would be implemented.
12:15 PM: By opting out, we will end up with a change of institution. If the rules say you have to appear in all the tests; you will have to appear, said a three-judge bench headed by Khanwilkar.

12:08 PM: “They now want a certificate from a registered doctor and RTPCR. I also suffered from COVID. I have my notes, but I don’t have my report. Now they are asking for both of these things ”, LIVE law quoted Meenakshi Arora as saying.
12:06 PM: The exit option must be given to a candidate who has suffered or whose family has suffered as a result of COVID. The note does not take effect, said Meenakshi Arora referring to the ICAI note.
12:04 PM: First hearing in the Supreme Court. Attorney General Ramji Srinivasan appeared at ICAI while Meenakshi Arora represented one of the applicants.
11:58 AM: Prior to the hearing, applicant Anubha Sahai tweeted, “Our CA PIL students are safe from RTPCR testing without any special effort before November and the extension of the old course. At RTPCR Hon’ble SC he admitted yesterday that it is compulsory but ICAI does not consider it. We will raise it again today. ”
11:51 AM: Yesterday, the bench said it would take an ICAI note to be recorded and forward the matter properly.

11:30 AM: Earlier on Tuesday, hours after the SC hearing, ICAI presented detailed SOPs before the high court and confirmed that an exit election would be granted to students in the event of Covid-19.
ICAI said the exit option would also be extended to candidates (either under the old or new system) who have recently suffered from COVID-19 or are recovering from the effects of COVID-19 and are therefore unable to appear in the Medical Certificate Medical Registration.
