‘Great example of naari shakti’: PM Modi to all-woman Oxygen Express’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke to the pilot of the Oxygen Express women’s train, which carries the essential gas needed to treat critically ill patients with coronavirus (Covid-19) to Bengaluru of Karnataka. Premier Modi said during his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio show Sireesha Gajani was doing an excellent job.

He said that the mothers and sisters in this country can be proud to know that one of the Oxygen Express is owned by a women’s team. All the women of the country will be proud of this. Everyone in India should be proud.

“Sireesha ji, he did an excellent job. Many women like you emerged during the coronavirus epidemic and gave the nation the strength to recover against the disease. She is also a good example of naari shakti (women’s power), ”she said.

The Prime Minister asked an Indian Railways employee about what motivates him to do his job. “I was inspired to work with my parents. They encouraged me, ”she said.

He also told Premier Modi that he was working very happily as he was driving an oxygen-carrying train. “I have worked hard at this project. During the delivery of oxygen express, everything is checked everywhere – safety, structure, leakage. Indian trains supported me. I was given a green way to use this train. I covered 125 miles in an hour and a half. The railways took the load and I carried mine, ”he said.

The Oxygen Express train tested by the “all-female crew” arrived in Bangladuru with 120 tons of medical oxygen from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand “to ensure continued supply of oxygen for COVID-19 patients in the State,” said a railway Minister Piyush Goyal said in May 22. He wrote on Twitter that the 7th Oxygen Express bound for Karnataka arrived in Bengaluru from Tatanagar (Jamshedpur) on Friday. Prime Minister Modi also told listeners of his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat that the production of liquid oxygen, which is an important component in the treatment of Covid patients, had increased tenfold. He said that on average, they were producing 900 metric tons of medical fluid per day. Today, production has risen to 9,500 tons per day – an increase of about 10 percent.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday 20,000 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) had been distributed across the country by Indian Railways’ Oxygen Express during the outbreak. He also wrote on Twitter that the oxygenExpress trains have crossed a milestone in providing 20,000 MT of Oxygen to COVID-19 patients overseas. To date, 300 Oxygen Express trains have completed their journey to serve the Nation.

Officials also say that the Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh and Assam have been major beneficiaries of Oxygen Expresses.
